Vernissage

This was the last day of STICKA´s participation in Kulturfestivalen. We had great fun. Thanks everybody involved for a very nice event.

Nostalgitripp för födelsedagsbarnet

Igår fyllde min man år och vi har länge pratat om att ta en tur med Lennakatten till Länna, där han tillbringat många somrar som barn. Hans morfar var faktor vid Lenna Bruk. Hans äldre bror var också med och vår yngsta dotter Bea följde motvilligt med. När vi köpte biljetterna blev vi upplysta om att det inte fanns mycket att se och göra i Länna. Bruket är sen länge nedlagt och det enda som fanns där var en bensinmack och någon vandringsled. I broschyren stod det nåt om mysiga picknick-platser. Vi hade med oss matsäck och satte oss ner på en hög plasrör invid en skog. Jag har nog sett mysigare platser. Men tåget var fint och vid Marielund stannade vi en stund för att kolet skulle nedkylas genom att de spolade vatten från en jättekran över det. Då var det också möjligt att köpa glass från ett litet kafé.

Efteråt besökte vi barnens kusin som köpt ett fint hus på en fantastisk tomt i Fjällnora. Bilresan hem var jobbig. Köerna in till stan var helt otroliga. Vi snurrade flera varv runt stan och lyckades slutligen ta oss hem via Årsta/Gröndal. Vi borde ha tagit tåget hem också :-)!

Day Two of Kulturfestivalen's Sticka in stan

Look how well Alison has matched her Kulturfestivalen t-shirt. The next day went very well. The wall behind us was now decorated to look like bookcases as we shared the space with the Library of Kulturhuset (Läsesalongen) and "Serieteket".

We had many visitors that stayed with us for a long time knitting, crocheting and talking. Some of the people that visited us yesterday returned today as they thougt it was a fun way to spend a few hours. For example there was a student of Biology and "Geovetenskap" (geo science?) at the University of Stockholm that I taught how to knit without twisting the stitches. She told me that she had not been able to find any work during her summer holiday and therefore decided to spend her last days before her next term started knitting with us.

I was also interviewed by a journalist, Frida Engström, working at Hemslöjden. Her paper is preparing a special issue on knitting.

The first day of Kulturfestivalen, Sticka in stan

I´ve now done my first two hours as cultural worker. I was a bit sceptic to this activity - Sticka in Stan - as I might have told you before I'm not so fund of knitted graffiti. I mean I do not want to do it myself - but some of it looks nice and make me happy. Especially Alisons graffitti. Her work is just marvellous. SVT was there and I was happy to see her on the late ABC-news programme. My friend Åsa came and sat down with us for a while during her lunch. She works in a bank nearby. Two of my fellow-knitters from STHLM Knitters, Katarina and Tove, also came by. Tove also brought her babyboy "Lill-T". I was very lucky to meet with so many good friends.

Tomorrow Catrin said she might come to say hallo. Í'll be there again tomorrow from 2 pm to 4 pm. I made aquaintance with a new type of yarn - banangarn. We had some free samples of the yarn at our table from the company Vackra garn who were selling their yarn at the market nearby. No use trying to look for info on their website though. It is still "under construction".

Kick-off-Party at Skansen

Last night Kulturfestivalen invited us (me and my fellow knitters who will participate in the Sticka i stan event at Brunkebergsporten) to a kick-off-party (förfest) at Solliden, Skansen. We were allowed to bring a friend so I brought Åsa. There was good music, nice people and the best environment you could imagine. The view over Stockholm from the Solliden restaurant is just incredible. As you can see we also had a walk around the zoo. Finally I want to show you the first one of my wristwarmers - Rosen. I'm very pleased with it.

Wonderful Day in the Sun

Knitting on the balcony all noon, had some light lunch, listened to Bodil Malmsten who was todays "sommarpratade" and then a tour by bike to my friends in Skogalund, Nacka. I was invited to some berry-picking. I came home with 1,5 l mixed berries: raspberries, red- and blackcurrants. When I arrived Åsa was at the beautiful little beach (at Långsjön) together with Sofia a cute little neigbourgirl. I joined them and took a short swim. Soo nice and warm! On the way back to Åsas house we met up with her husband and two of their neigbours. We were all invited to afternoon coffe and peppermint-tea with lavenderbiscuits (Åsa just made them together with little Sofia, 3 years old). My husband also turned up just in time for the coffee. He had done some shopping at Clas Ohlson in Sickla. And at the end of the day we lucky enough to be asked to stay for dinner. Grilled chicken, risotto, tsatsiki and beetroot and feta-cheese (?). A truly wonderful summer day!

Rosen

Tog Boels råd och började på ett lite mindre och lättare projekt för att få tillbaka sticklusten. Och det hjälpte. Men jag har kommit en bit (2,5 cm) på väg på Asklövskoftan också. Det blev Handledsvärmare Rosen som jag köpte på Yllet i tisdags när jag var i akut behov av en stickning inför Hurtigsträffen. Då lärde jag mig att ett stick-kit inte innehåller stickor så jag fick i alla fall cykla hem efter min stickning. Garn: Ullgarn Extra 2-tr, Stickor: strumpstickor 3.

Dagens båtutfärd var helt underbar. 22 grader i vattnet och säkert 26 i luften.

Borde ha sett det tidigare men märkte det först när jag med stort besvär fått över alla 294+7 maskorna på de nya stickningarna. Jag hade lyckats vrida stickningen ett varv så det var bara att börja om från början.... Nu är det inte kul längre att sticka!

No more wooden needles

Jag borde ha lärt mig. Det har ju hänt förut. Nu gick mina nyligen inköpta KnitPro 80 cm 2,5 mm av på två ställen. Metall för mig i fortsättningen! Men innan stickorna gick av hade jag en jättetrevlig kväll på Hurtigs tillsammans med Carin A och Katarina.
